How the saving is calculated
- The same starting balance, rate and original P&I repayment are used in both schedules.
- Interest saved is interest without the offset minus interest with the offset.
- Only the net balance attracts interest: the loan balance less the offset balance, never below zero.
- Regular and lump-sum deposits increase the offset balance, not the loan repayment.
- Weekly and fortnightly equivalents are converted from the monthly repayment (monthly × 12 ÷ 52 or ÷ 26) and rounded up.
- Deposits are added at the start of each month; interest is calculated monthly on the loan balance less the offset balance.
- This is an estimate; rates, fees and day-count may change the live result.
